Ann Demeulemeester FW 17, Paris

Posted on March 8, 2017 by Cecilia Musmeci

There is a romantic and nostalgic woman in the imagery of Sebastien Meunier for Ann Demeulemeester. She wants to go out, yet she despises style conventions and comfromity, so she climbs up to the attic of her family’s house and finds a treasure chest filled with old garments, beautiful silks and laces. With the same sophisticated nonchalance of unconventional iconic women, such as Patti Smith or Nico, she mixes contemporary pieces with 19th-century inspired night robes, velvet trousers and jackets, to create her own look, dramatic, flamboyant and edgy at once. Feathers, diamonds, fur stoles and ribbons embellish her neck suggesting a smudge of old diva allure. Complicated and layered like the woman’s personality, the clothing unveils its poetic beauty when floating in movement, following the wearer like an aura made of fluid fabrics.
