Katerina Jebb presents a visual installation for the windows of Galeries Lafayette Hausmann, Paris.
The British artist and filmmaker develops further her creative experimentation with scanning, building a new artistic language through this hybrid medium that does not belong to photography or video in the general sense. The work on display at Paris-based luxury department store features video and 11 life-size images that Jebb painstakingly assembled from different human scans, eventually forming an entire document of the subject. Styled in Autumn Winter 2015-16 looks from Loewe, Rick Owens, Nina Ricci, Carven, Chloe, and Kenzo among others, British model Bianca O’ Brien appears in surreal compositions that highlight her ethereal beauty. For the realization of this project, Jebb employed an A4 digital scanner, and the artworks were produced over a period of five weeks, in a size format of 1m 90 x 1m20. By implementing this pioneering approach, the artist aims to go behind the limits of traditional photography.
The installation is on show from the 2nd of July until the 25th of August 2015 at the Galeries Lafayette,
Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
