LOEWE Conversations IV ft. Fran Lebowitz & Gracie Mansion

Posted on August 3, 2018 by A Magazine

Fran Lebowitz: one of New York City’s living treasures, and a relic of its golden age, opens up about the life and times of her friends Peter Hujar and David Wojnarowicz in conversation with Gracie Mansion at the Mistral Amphitheatre, Palacio de Linares, Madrid. On the occasion of Loewe’s PHotoESPANA 2018 exhibition of the two artists’ works, Lebowitz speaks frankly of their creativity and their struggles, including candid thoughts on Nan Goldin, Robert Mapplethorpe, Candy Darling, and a generation of contemporaries who have helped shape the contemporary visual language of American art and photography practice.

Lebowitz & Mansion’s dialogue succeeds a trio of diverse talks for this program, dissecting subject matter from William Morris’ textiles to the Surrealist movement, and private art collecting in the 21st century.

The fourth LOEWE Conversations event took place on June 27th, 2018.
